The Doña Ana County Genealogical Society
will meet on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 2:00 pm
Family History Center 2915 E. Idaho
Facilitated by: Jeannie Kowalik, Ron Bybee, Dave Knapp
As this is a workshop format using the Center's computers, there will NOT be a Zoom program.
Family Search launched an experimental full-text search feature for its collection of image-only genealogical records during the recent RootsTech conference. Get hands-on training in using this new AI experiment that enables you to find records of possible ancestors that are mentioned within wills and deeds but are not included in the indexes. They may have been listed as neighbors, witnesses, family members not involved with the transaction or were former landowners. This can provide a full text transcription of the will or deed that can be downloaded. The documents should be saved as a source to your ancestor on the FS tree. We’ll be happy to help with that process if you are unfamiliar with it.
Please be sure to:
Have an account with Family Search.
Prior to the meeting we will gather for a dutch treat lunch at McAlister's Deli at 2800 Mall Drive at 11:45.
