On Wednesday, February 12, 2020 in the Roadrunner Room of the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library, Sally Kading will share with us how to understand the symbols on headstones and more. Here is her description of the upcoming presentation:
Being able to read symbols on headstones is like being introduced to an individual and can give you an insight into that person. There is usually a birth and death date but the life between those two dates can be depicted on a headstone. Were they young, did their sense of humor out last them, was one of their accomplishments noteworthy? Why are traditional headstones curved on the top? What does a lamb or an angel mean on a headstone? Why are burials 6’ under? We will also look at options in today’s changing world.
We look forward to seeing you at the presentation in February. A brief meeting will follow to share with you many of the exciting events that are being planned for 2020.
