June Meeting of the DACGS

  • 2020-06-10
  • 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM
  • Via the ZOOM. Non-members of DACGS must request instructions to view the meeting by sending an email by June 9th to: dacgslc@gmail.com

Family Stories and How I Researched Them, a presentation by member Roger Dombrowski, will be the June program for the Doña Ana County Genealogical Society. Roger will highlight how he classifies stories fact or fiction using the story of Plymouth colony on this 400th anniversary of the Pilgrims landing. It illustrates the importance of using primary sources to get at the truth in genealogy research.  He will then share family stories from several generations with information on how he researched them.  These stories will include examples from his parents, and from three lines of ancestry going back to colonial America.  A particularly interesting story is about his Mayflower ancestor, 10th Great Grandfather Stephan Hopkins.  This will be a fun, as well as educational presentation. It will provide many ideas on how to research our family stories, getting at truth and meaning.

Roger is a member of:  The Doña Ana County Genealogy Society, The General Society of Mayflower Descendants, New Mexico Chapter, and has applied for membership to The Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, Gadsden Chapter, NMSSAR.

Without the ability to safely meet in person due to the Covid-19 situation, the next DACGS meeting will be conducted digitally (over the internet) so we may safely observe from home.  Members will receive an invitation to join the meeting by email.  If you are not a DACGS member and would like to participate, please send an email no later than June 9, 2020, to: dacgslc@gmail.com   with your request to attend the digital meeting.  Attendance is limited to 300.

The meeting will begin at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, June 10, 2020.
